DJI Phantom 4

Technology changes fast and I had previously posted about the DJI Phantom 3, which has now been replaced by the DJI Phantom 4. This thing is even more awesome and will definitely be put on my list of recommended drones. Here is a video and specs.

  • Avoid obstacles automatically.
  • Track moving subjects automatically using ActiveTrack.
  • TapFly lets you fly with a tap of the finger.
  • Smart Return Home allows the Phantom to avoid obstacles as it returns home.
  • 28 minute maximum flight time, maximum control range of 3.1mi (5km).
  • Maximum speed of 44mph (72kmh).
  • Integrated gimbal for greater camera stability and smoother footage.
  • Optimized Vision Positioning System raises positioning altitude up to 10 meters.

Typhoon 4K Drone

Got an extra $1000? You are going to want one of these! This Typhoon 4K drone is one of the coolest I have seen, and it won some awards at CES 2016. I have a feeling this one will require special registration with the FAA due to its size and weight. Check out their website for the complete lineup of drones and other photography gear.

If you need a pro level drone, check this one out!

Hound

There is a new player in the voice assistance arena, and it’s called Hound. By the makers of SoundHound. As I have said before, the more we use these speech recognition technologies, the better they will become!

You can read about all the other voice assistants I have covered here.

So far this thing is amazing! And it’s available on iTunes and Google Play.

The first thing you will notice when you start using it, is how complex of a question you can ask it, and it will give you amazing results.

You have to try this voice assistant! See video for samples.

Pebble SmartWatch

Bad-Experience

I already posted about smartwatches here, but wanted to create a separate post about the Pebble SmartWatch, because I have found the quality of this watch to be a problem and wanted to warn you, based on my own experience.

Pebble SmartWatch

My own experience with the Pebble smartwatch has not been a good one. I had issues with the watch screen letters getting unreadable or fuzzy, and at first the company seemed good in their tech support and customer service by replacing the defective watch with a new one. The new watch however is doing the same thing. They responded and said now the watch is out of warranty, so there is nothing they can do about it. I suspect they have some sort of manufacturing defect because it is very suspect that the replacement watch has the same issue as the first one. I did send them a request asking about this possibility, but they won’t even respond now.

This is a screenshot of a brand new out of the box Pebble, and this is the second one I have received, that had the same issue!

There are a lot of choices for smartwatches and this video will primarily cover 2 of the top choices. For the iPhone, that’s the Apple Watch; for Android, it’s the Moto 360.
